An Imperfect Scheme by Wisuwat Pruksavanich
[2022]

Composer Note:

An Imperfect Scheme for alto saxophone with track (or rock band) expresses saxophone extended techniques such as slap-tongue, multiphonic, bisbigliando, altissimo and circular-breathing together with the Djent musical style, a subgenera of the progressive rock. Djent music is characterized by the use of complex time signatures and polyrhythms.
The concept behind An Imperfect Scheme is “the tempestuous that is in the system”. The saxophone often express the patterns or melodies in the different time signatures and rhythms.
Thai traditional musical elements are also incorporated into the piece. With sections F, H, I, and M featuring a blend of Thai traditional instruments alongside saxophone folk melodies reminiscent of those from the Southern region of Thailand.
