Vortex IV is part of an ongoing series of works for saxophone inspired by the energy and unpredictability of swirling currents. Throughout the piece, rapid passages, spiraling melodic figures, and sharp dynamic contrasts create a sense of perpetual motion, as if the music is being pulled into and propelled by an invisible force.
     Composed for baritone saxophone, the work explores both the instrument’s commanding power and surprising agility. Vortex IV is dedicated to Piyaphon Asawakarnjanakit, one of Thailand’s leading saxophonists, whose artistry and expertise on the baritone saxophone served as the inspiration for this work.
