'Treacherous Turbulence' details the composer’s first experience with turbulence on an aeroplane ten years ago during a twelve-hour flight from London to Bangkok. It felt like a roller coaster ride, which the composer hates due to high speeds and erratic changes in direction. Every now and then, there would be a sudden drop in altitude, as if the plane were falling and spelling the doom of everyone onboard. This piece received a special mention award by the Calefax Reed Quintet in the Calefax Composers Competition 2024, which was also juried by Dutch composer Michel van der Aa.
